Newcomers celebrate season with special luncheon

(ROCKWALL-December 17, 2012) More than 100 Rockwall County Newcomers and Friends met Thursday to celebrate the Christmas season.

Ready to enjoy a delicious luncheon while seated at a beautifully decorated table are (back row, from left) Carol Greenhalgh, Marion Duhamel, Nancy Russell, Martha Foster; (front row) Sandy Clayton, Mary Custer and Kathy Weintraub. The table decorated by Nancy Russell was the grand prize winner.

Members demonstrated their many talents by decorating the luncheon tables in keeping with the holiday spirit.

Ladies of the Rockwall County Newcomers and Friends look over the beautifully decorated tables done by fellow members for the Dec13 Christmas meeting.

Prizes were awarded for the best decorated tables.  Entertainment was providedby the Show Choir from Amy Parks Elementary School under the direction of Jan Stonestreet.  The 36 member choir of 4th, 5th and 6th graders performed a delightful selection of musical numbers and earned a standing ovation from the Newcomers.  Deanna Tipton, well known vocalist in Rockwall, also sang several selections to the delight of all those attending.

‘History of Famous Tales & Nursery Rhymes’ at Jan meeting

The January meeting of Newcomers and Friends will be Thursday, January 10 at Occasions at Stone River in Royse City.  Doors open at 10 a.m.  Following a brief business meeting, a program will be presented by Ann Cornelius entitled “History of Famous Tales and Nursery Rhymes.”

Whether new to the community or a long time resident, all women of Rockwall County are invited to come to see this performance and enjoy a lovely luncheon.  Advance reservations must be made by December 31 and can be made by calling Sylvia at 972-772-4890 or Marion at 972-722-9896.  Cost is $19 payable at the door.
