Lake Pointe Health Network, based in Rowlett, recently received the Employer for Education Excellence Bronze Level Award by the State Board of Education for its outstanding support of Texas schools.
In order to qualify for a Bronze level award, companies must collaborate with school districts in a number of ways and have a policy or procedure that allows employees to attend parent-teacher conferences during work time.
The LPHN met the criteria through its policies and support of school fund raising activities, health fairs and education programs. LPHN realizes the partnership between a student’s parent and teacher is a key to educational success and provides employees with the opportunities for a healthy balance between work and home.
In addition LPHN offers a medical mentor program which was established in the early 1990’s to encourage students to think about pursuing a career in the medical field. Students in the program rotate among LPHN’s best medical personnel, shadowing these employees and gaining hands-on medical experience. LPHN’s mentoring program helps these students decide if this is the right path for them and helps to prepare them for their future educational training in the medical field.
