Cameron Echols Memorial Basketball Tournament raises funds to help children participate in YMCA programs

(ROCKWALL-February 11, 2013) The 7th Annual Cameron Echols Memorial Basketball Tournament will be Saturday, Feb. 23. Games will be played at the JER Chilton YMCA at Rockwall and Williams Middle School.

The tournament honors the memory of Cameron Echols, a 13-year-old Rockwall student and athlete who, after playing in a league basketball game, collapsed and died from sudden cardiac arrest on July 31, 2006.Cameron Echols

Cameron was a dedicated academic achiever at Williams Middle School. She had a gift for playing sports. Basketball, volleyball and soccer were her favorites.

The YMCA Basketball Tournament helps raise funds for the JER Chilton YMCA at Rockwall Partners Campaign, which provides scholarships for children who would not otherwise be able to participate in YMCA activities.

All age divisions are available – even for adults.

Register by Tuesday, Feb. 19.
