Cain student wins Rockwall County Spelling Bee, advances to Dallas Morning News Regional Spelling Bee

(ROCKWALL ISD-February 7, 2013) Rockwall ISD recently hosted the Rockwall County Spelling Bee, sponsored by Scripps National Spelling Bee and the Dallas Morning News.

The contest was open to all students in fourth through eighth grade in Rockwall County. Participants in this year’s event included each Rockwall ISD campus winner, students from H.E.A.R (Home Education Associational Resources, Inc), and Royse City ISD.

Emily Miller, an eighth grader from Cain Middle School, was named the county winner.  Emily will go on to represent Rockwall ISD in the regional spelling bee.

Sixth grade runner up, Kaitlyn Rothbauer from Amy Parks Elementary, earned the county alternate spot in the competition.

The 55th Annual Dallas Morning News Regional Spelling Bee will be held on March 23, 2013. The Regional Spelling Bee Champion will then advance to the National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.
