DoubleDave’s event to support TWU’s Walk Against Child Abuse project

(DENTON-February 24, 2013) DoubleDave’s Pizzaworks in Denton will host a fund-raising event Wednesday, Feb. 27, to aid the community-service work of social work students at Texas Woman’s University. Ten percent of all money collected from sales between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. will go toward the students’ community project, the annual Walk Against Child Abuse.

The students will co-host the walk, called Walking in Love this year, along with Community Partners of Denton County and the Child Abuse Prevention Society. It is the eighth year for the walk event, which will be April 13 at TWU.

“The proceeds of the Walk Against Child Abuse will benefit the Rainbow Room, which provides abused and neglected children with their critical needs,” said Yadira Ortega, a social work student.

DoubleDave’s often supports the community-service efforts of TWU’s social work students.

“We like to help those who are giving back to the Denton County community, especially those who are working to make children’s lives better,” said Ali Kohandani, co-owner of the Denton franchise.

Dine-in, carry out and delivery orders will all count toward the fund-raising campaign. To place a carryout or delivery order, please call DoubleDave’s at 243-DAVE (3283). The restaurant is located at 220 W. University Drive, just minutes from TWU’s campus.
