Joe Ehrmann speaks on ‘Raising healthy men and women’

(ROCKWALL ISD-February 18, 2013) Joe Ehrmann, educator, motivator, coach and social justice activist for more than 25 years, will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19  in the Rockwall-Heath High School Performing Arts Center. He will discuss teen relationships and community values to motivate individuals and communities to begin making positive changes.

Ehrmann’ s revolutionary concepts of team-building, mentoring and coaching are the subject of the New York Times bestseller Season of Life, written by Jeffrey Marx.  An All-American football player, he went on to play professional football for 13 years. He was named the Colts “Man of the Year.”  Parade Magazine featured him on its cover, naming him “The Most Important Coach in America” because of his work to transform the culture of sports. In addition, he was selected as one of the “Most Influential Sport Educators in America” by the Institute for International Sport.

His career has in no way been limited to the athletic arena. Ehrmann is co-founder of Baltimore’s Ronald McDonald House and was chosen by the Baltimore Business Journal as the “Renaissance Person of the Decade” for his dedication and commitment to Baltimore’s betterment.  He is also co-founder of The Door, a community-based organization that addresses issues of poverty, systemic racism and social justice.

Other honors include being named the American Diabetes Association’s and Father’s Day Council’s “Father of the Year” as well as the National Fatherhood Initiative’s “Man of the Year.”  For his work empowering youth to prevent male violence, Ehrmann was also the recipient of the Frederick Douglas “Man of the Year Award.”

Rockwall-Heath High School is excited to be offering the community the information and inspiration of his presentation, “Raising Healthy Men and Women.”
