The CFA meets each Thursday from 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. with a full day on Saturday, May 18 at Fire Station #2, 920 Rockwall Parkway. The class is free and participants must by at least 18 years old.

The Citizen Fire Academy offers an educational program that provides an insider’s view of the city’s fire department – from firefighter training involving structural firefighting to fire prevention and hands-on experience in emergency operations. There is also a “ride-out” on emergency calls with firefighters.

Classes will include learning about equipment used in rescue situations. Class participants will have the opportunity to use rescue tools to cut apart a vehicle in a simulation of vehicle extrication. They can also experience firefighter life inside a flaming building dressed in bunker gear in the same building that is used for training firefighters.

The Citizen Fire Academy provides a great opportunity to meet the brave crew of firefighters that protect our city.
