(ROCKWALL-February 16, 2013) The weight loss surgery center at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Rockwall has been named a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. The recognition identifies this weight loss surgery center as meeting high standards of quality on national benchmarks.
Since its inception in November 2008 the program, Your Solution Weight Loss Surgery, has been working towards achieving accreditation. Jane Cauley, program director, said, “I am extremely proud of the work our hospital team and surgeons have put into developing such a fine program. Receiving national accreditation from our professional society demonstrates our focus on quality, strong patient outcomes and a comprehensive approach to weight loss. Our desire is to help patients regain their health so they are able to enjoy the life they were meant to. This program changes lives and we are excited to be able to serve even more patients in the future.”
The process for achieving a center of excellence designation includes a lengthy survey and inspection process by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. All programs granted accreditation are required to have performed a specific number of procedures having proven a high level of competence with positive outcomes in successful weight loss. Other requirements include special equipment accommodations, detailed education programs, counseling, staff trained specifically in bariatric surgery as well as other services. Texas Health Rockwall’s program is extensive yet individualized enough so that each patient receives the required elements but is also treated with the compassion and attention they want. This personal relationship extends to the patient’s family as the need to educate the family is included.
“Weight loss surgery affects the entire family,” said Cauley “We want to make sure that everyone is on board and understands the changes that will take place.”
“Everyone involved with the program at Your Solution has worked exceptionally hard to develop a comprehensive and patient-oriented program. I am extremely proud of Jane Cauley, our surgeons and hospital staff,” said Cindy Paris, hospital president. “What a gratifying experience it is to play a part in helping individuals get back a life they thought they would never have again. We are excited that our hospital can offer this to patients in our community and surrounding areas.”
