Local political consultant takes a look at the spirit realm in ‘The Warrant’

(GREENVILLE-March 20, 2013)A writer located in the Dallas area has penned a second novel based in part on his experiences in politics, but his new e-book, “The Warrant,” gives added meaning to the phrase “powers that be.”

Trey Bahm, a lifelong North Texas resident, first got involved in politics in high school. Since then, his career has taken him all the way to the Floor of the U.S. Senate, with stops in the U.S. House of Representatives, Texas state government, courthouses, city halls and political conventions. After a seven-year career in Washington, DC, Bahm set up shop as a media and political consultant in Rockwall. Now based in Greenville, he serves clients in both the Metroplex and East Texas.

“When you’ve seen all the different ways I’ve seen men and women try to exercise power, you can’t help but think about how the unseen world may govern the affairs of men,” said Bahm. “A regular theme of all the different spiritual and religious traditions out there is that there are unseen forces at work in our daily lives and world governments.”

Bahm published his first novel The Princess in 2010 about a Dallas fundraiser and her challenges of balancing politics and a severely injured husband. With “The Warrant,” Bahm switches from narrative fiction to the fantasy/sci-fi genre. Still, the story’s plot involves a public official who’s in trouble.

“I wanted to explore the idea of a spirit world organized according to its own political system, which in turn might interact with ours,” said Bahm. “I think ‘The Warrant’ tells a compelling tale in such a setting without getting too bogged down in specifics. It’s easy when you’re writing sci-fi to burn up the reader’s time by creating a world that might stifle the energy of the story. I worked hard to keep ‘The Warrant’ from doing this, and I believe my readers will enjoy the product.”

Bahm earned a B.A. in history from Wheaton College near Chicago, Illinois. Much of his study centered around ancient and church history. In addition to his political clients, Bahm continues to write for churches and para-church ministries.

“The Warrant” is available in e-book format on Amazon and Smashwords.com. It is the first episode of a five-part series entitled Powers and Principalities. You can follow Trey on Twitter @treybahm, or on Facebook by searching for Books by Trey Bahm.
