‘Murder Room’ hits Rockwall Community Playhouse stage

(ROCKWALL-March 7, 2013) Rockwall Community Playhouse will present ‘Murder Room,’ a fabulous mystery farce revolving around Edgar and his unfaithful wife, Mavis; it’s  a charming mix of Agatha Christie, Monty Python, and Abbot and Costello.

This two-act whodunit is filled with witty dialogue, inept criminals, bumbling police, and is suitable for all ages.

Directing the production is Shelly Aubrey who has been working with RCP for about 10 years. The first show that she directed at the playhouse was Fiddler on the Roof. Shelley has been involved with theater since her sophomore year in high school.  She has performed with Dallas Summer Musicals, Casa Manana, Country Dinner Playhouse and many more. She was the Artistic/Founding Director of Theater on the Hill in Cedar Hill for 10 years. Shelley was the Performance Director and Dialogue Coach of Barney and Friends  for 10 years. She lives in Rockwall with her husband Bill and mother. Her son Lucas is soon to be graduate of Texas A & M.

“I am delighted that RCP chose to do this show and that I have had the wonderful opportunity to direct it for you. This cast has taken the task of Mr. Sharkey’s fast paced dialogue and made it their own. Each member of the cast will delight you in the roles they play,” said Aubrey.

Kenneth Craddock, who stars as Edgar Hollister/Abel Howard, is thrilled to be returning to the RCP stage. “I absolutely love being a part of The Murder Room. It is such a delightful play, and I am humbled to be working with such a talented cast and crew,” he said.

He previously portrayed Henry in The Fantasticks and Rudolph in Hello Dolly! A lyric tenor with an opera and choral background, he has performed twice at Carnegie Hall. Craddock is a CPA with his own firm and lives in Rockwall with his wife and son.

Monkress has been in many RCP productions, including: Bed of Roses, Piece of My Heart, Rumors, My Fair Lady, and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. He is a Senior Project Manager at Accura Systems, Inc. and lives in Rockwall with his wife Denise. The couple has two children, Barrett and Lauren. In his spare time he enjoys playing golf and guitar. “This is my second production with our director Shelly Aubrey. The cast and crew are wonderful, and we are having a lot of fun with it,” he said.

Judy Perser, playing Lottie Molloy, is a veteran of the RCP stage and fills in as Costumer whenever she is needed. She was recently seen on stage in I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, Blithe Spirit, Nunsense, Driving Miss Daisy, and Steel Magnolias. Perser has served on the Artistic Committee of RCP for five years and is currently on the Board of Directors. Besides acting, she enjoys dancing and reading.
