Lake Pointe Health Network opens Emergency Department in Forney

(FORNEY-April 1, 2013) Lake Pointe Health Network, based in Rowlett, opened a provider-based, 24-hour emergency department in Forney this morning. The $4 million ED is the phase two expansion of Forney Medical Center and provides convenient, high-quality emergency access to the residents of Forney and the surrounding communities.

“Lake Pointe Health Network is proud to open the Forney ED, making it one of several off-campus facilities contributing to our mission of providing convenient, top-of-the-line health care to our surrounding communities,” said Brett Lee, LPHN’s chief executive officer. “We are thankful for the support we have received from the city of Forney and its business leaders, and we look forward to maintaining and continually improving the health and well-being of our Forney neighbors, friends and families.”

The 8,017-square-foot ED is equipped to care for a wide range of emergency medicine needs 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  It is staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians and registered nurses, who will provide the same high level of care found at the Lake Pointe Medical Center’s ED. Also, with Primary Stroke Center Certification, the ED in Forney is ready for almost any emergency.

All staff members are specially trained using a systematic and multidisciplinary approach to patient care that allows physicians to reduce the time to treatment during the early stages of a heart attack or stroke, when treatments are most effective. The team will consult with highly trained neurologists through Specialists on Call, an advanced telecommunications system referred to as telemedicine that provides 24/7 access to stroke consultation support.

The ED is connected to the current Lake Pointe Diagnostic Imaging Center, allowing it to utilize imaging services including Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT), X-rays, mammography scans, ultrasounds and bone density tests. It is located on the first floor of the Forney medical office building and 19 miles from Lake Pointe Medical Center.
