Cheyenne, Blue Ribbon News Pet of the Week, needs help to avoid leg amputation

(ROCKWALL-May 7, 2013) Cheyenne has everything going for her. She’s a three-ear-old Akita who’s gorgeous, charming and mild-mannered. She’s a big girl – she weighs over 75 pounds – but Cheyenne is a gentle giant. She’s everything a great dog should be.

Except one thing. She was apparently hit by a car and suffered substantial injuries, including a badly broken femur and a torn ACL. After Rockwall Pets rescued her from the Dallas animal shelter, they took her immediately to Pet Doctor in Rockwall for x-rays. The results presented a stark choice: Rockwall Pets would have to choose between amputating one of her rear legs or giving her thigh replacement surgery.

Cheyenne is too special to face a future with only three legs. So, if Rockwall Pets can raise the needed funds, they opted for the expensive surgery. Her leg, her femur and her ACL will all be surgically repaired if funding is available.

With help from the community, Cheyenne is destined for a healthy and happy future. Find out more about Cheyenne’s story at razoo.com/story/Cheyenne-Rockwall or visit rockwallpets.com.
