Chance to win a Royal Caribbean Cruise for Two
(LAKE RAY HUBBARD-May 27, 2013) For hundreds of sailors and spectators, a long-standing Father’s Day tradition will continue when Dallas Race Week launches Sunday, June 16 on Lake Ray Hubbard in Rockwall.
Six days of racing action, beautiful sunsets, and pre- and post-race parties will be topped off with the presentation of community grants on Friday, June 21. The entire community is invited to come out and enjoy Friday Family Fun Night festivities, which begin at 6 p.m. at The Harbor. The Rub will perform live, trophies will be awarded to the area’s top sailors, and prize drawing winners will be announced.
“We’re very excited about this year’s grand prize raffle drawing,” said John Adams, Dallas Race Week chair. “We’re giving away a seven day Royal Caribbean cruise for two, and other great prizes.”
Raffle tickets can be purchased by calling John at 469-387-0585 or Barry Buchanan at 214-632-5268. Tickets $5 each or 5 for $20.
Dallas Race Week dates back to 1982, bridging the week of Summer Solstice. For the past nine years, the regatta has benefited the community service projects of the Rockwall Breakfast Rotary Club, whose motto is to “Sail into Service.” Their mission is to provide funding for programs that address issues of poverty, hunger, illiteracy and health care affecting the local community.
This year’s grant recipients include the Boys & Girls Club of Rockwall County, Helping Hands Health Clinic, Meals on Wheels, Kids in Need in Rockwall County (The Rainbow Room) and the Pregnancy Resource Center.
“We look forward hosting this event each year to help our local nonprofits. We want to encourage all of Rockwall and surrounding communities to join the post-race celebration Friday evening. It will be a night of family fun that will help folks in need,”Adams said.
Race registration is underway at dallasraceweek.com. Sponsors to date include American National Bank, Rusty Wallis Honda, Community Bank, MidSouth Bank, Packer Brick, Mike Oliver, CPA, Thermo Sensor Corp, Surface Armor, Altura Builder, K&S Insurance, and Jason Pardue.
