(ROCKWALL – September 23, 2013) Planning for this October’s Pumpkin Patch began this past April when 12 committee members from Our Lady of the Lake Council of Catholic Women and Friends of the Rockwall County Library began monthly meetings.
Volunteers began crafting unique handmade items to decorate house and lawn. Supplies are limited and interested persons should shop early.
Other groups made the famous Pumpkin Patch Pickles, Patch Jalapeno Jelly, Patch Pumpkin Butter, and Sweet and Zesty Jalapenos, a new twist on the ubiquitous jalapeno pepper.
Look for pumpkins of all varieties, gourds, squashes, straw bales and cornstalks to make the perfect outdoor display. Colorful mums are ready for planting to add seasonal color to the landscape.
This year’s Patch continues the tradition of making Saturdays special Children’s Days. Featured entertainers include Patchy the Clown, Bill Watts a local storyteller, performers from the Rockwall Summer Musicals and a program by the Rockwall Children’s Chorus.
Storytime, crafts, and free face painting round out the day. The Pumpkin Patch website has a schedule of all the children’s activities.
Shift workers and other volunteers are still needed and online signup is available on our website. Rockwall’s Original Pumpkin Patch is a non-profit all-volunteer community fundraiser and all proceeds benefit local projects of the Rockwall County Library and the Council of Catholic Women.
Pumpkin Patch is located in the Ridge Road Shopping Center at 1201 Ridge Road. Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily from October 5th through October 31st. For more information, see RockwallPumpkinPatch.com.
