(ROCKWALL – September 30, 2013) Rockwall’s Original Pumpkin Patch will kick off its 25th year with a grand opening ceremony at 9 a.m. Saturday, October 5th.

The Patch will be open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through Oct. 31. It is located at the Ridge Road Shopping Center, 1201 Ridge Road, sometimes referred to as the Brookshire’s Shopping Center.

Pumpkin Patch handcrafted figures appear to rise out of the groundcover to wave a ghostly hello.

Original design lawn art and a wide variety of seasonal decorating items will be for sale.

Pumpkins of all varieties, gourds, squashes, straw bales and cornstalks, and a variety of mums will be available on opening day. In mid-October colorful pansies will arrive.

Delicious deli items made by members of the sponsoring groups are excellent appetizers for fall entertaining and also make wonderful gifts for friends and neighbors.

An exciting lineup of children’s activities is scheduled for each Saturday. Children and adults will enjoy story times, crafts and face painting. Special entertainment will begin every Saturday at noon. There is never an admission charge. Families are welcome to come browse and take advantage of the many photo opportunities.

Patchy the Clown brings her friend, Jimmy the Crow to the Pumpkin Patch at noon on opening day.

On opening day, Patchy the Scarecrow will appear. On the following Saturdays, the Rockwall Children’s Chorus, Bill Watts-Storyteller, and performers from Rockwall Summer Musicals will offer special entertainment. A schedule of all children’s activities as well as other information is available at the Pumpkin Patch website.

Volunteers are needed for shift work. See the Volunteer page on the Patch website to select a shift that fits your  schedule. Interested persons may sign up online at rockwallpumpkinpatch.com.
