(ROCKWALL – Sept 16, 2013) Friends of Rockwall County Library recently brought former servicemen together for a presentation about the Honor Flight DFW program.

Linda Robinson, Honor Flight DFW coordinator, explained the organization’s goal to take area World War II veterans to Washington DC to see the WW II memorial.  The all-expense two-day trip is made possible by donations.

A guardian who pays his or her own expenses accompanies each veteran.

“We treat the veterans like they’re our special cargo,” said Robinson.

L to R: Harold Whitfield, Eddie Meil, Jack Alexander and Harry Hulse all served in the U. S. Navy during WW II.

A complete medical team is aboard each flight to ensure their health and safety.
