(ROCKWALL ISD – October 30, 2013) Nebbie Williams Elementary PTA hosted its annual Walk-a-Thon on Friday, October 25th.  This is Nebbie’s only school-wide fundraiser benefiting the school directly.  Because of school-wide student participation and the generous donors and sponsors, Nebbie PTA again raised a record number of funds!  In fact, they raised $35,736!  These funds are put right back into the school in the form of programs, teacher wish lists, school beautification, and so much more.

During the two week period leading up to the event, Nebbie students are encouraged to get donations from family, friends and neighbors.  All students are given a t-shirt to wear on the day of the event courtesy of Alliance Bank, Animal Hospital of Fate, Harbor Heights Family Medicine-Dr. Robert Stark, Kid to Kid Rockwall, Lakeside Allergy-Dr. Jeffrey West, NexRev, State Farm-John Elsey, Toyota of Rockwall, The White Law Firm, and Waffle House Rockwall and a water bottle donated by  Stonebridge Veterinary Hospital.

Those students collecting over $50 also receive a bag donated by Dental Professionals of Rockwall, in which Dr. Brigette Koetter filled with coupons and prizes donated by various local merchants including Shenaniganz, Sports Authority, Whataburger, Cici’s Pizza, Culvers, Chick-fil-a, Full Impact, Lake Pointe Health Network, El Chico, Cosmic Jump, Sweet Frog, and McDonald’s.

The day of Walk-a-Thon was kicked off with a spirit parade led by a fire truck from the Rockwall Fire Department and the RHS Drumline, Varsity Baskeball Team, Stingerettes, Cheerleaders and Mascot.  Each class decorated a banner to carry in the parade with their version of this year’s school theme, Heart and Soul. The students also painted their hair and faces in blue and orange to give the parade even more spirit and color.

After the parade, students participated in various events around the school, including a walk with DJ Frank, disc golf with Life House, an inflatable obstacle course from the YMCA, and a presentation by White Tiger Martial Arts.
