Rockwall High jazz vocalist wins international competition

(ROCKWALL ISD – October 28, 2013) Rockwall High School Senior Whitnee Bomkamp recently auditioned for the 2013 Golden Voices of America Competition. Golden Voices of America is an international voice competition hosted by American Fine Arts Festival (AFAF). This competition is for vocalists of all nationalities from around the globe who desire to challenge themselves by competing on a highly selective level.

Auditioning in the category of Musical Theatre/Disney/Broadway/Jazz Whitnee was selected as the 1st Place Winner for her performance of “The Girl in 14G”. As a 1st place recipient, Whitnee will perform at the November 16, 2013 Winners’ Concert Series held in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City, New York. Additionally, she was awarded the opportunity to perform in August 2014 at the Robert Schumann Museum in Zwickau, Germany during a special concert to be held at the 2014 AFAF Summer Music Courses in Europe.

Whitnee is a second year vocalist of the award-winning Rockwall High School Jazz Band and a three-year member and Senior JV Instructor of the award-winning Rockwall High School Stingerettes.
