ROCKWALL (November 11, 2013) The JER Chilton YMCA at Rockwall welcomed veterans and their families to a special Veterans Day reception in their honor. A table was spread with refreshments and veterans were treated to a program by guest speaker Chaplain Doug Sewell.
Sewell is the chaplain with the 4th Air Wing of the Texas Adjutant General’s Department, The Texas State Guard, which is one of three branches of the Military Forces of the State of Texas, reporting to The Texas Adjutant General. The other two branches of the Military Forces of the State of Texas are the Texas Army National Guard, and Texas Air National Guard. The guests really enjoyed his speech.
The Texas State Guard is a State Military Force which assists Texas Civil Authorities in times of Texas State Emergencies and in On-Going Support of Local Communities; and consists of six Civil Affairs Regiments, The Air Division, The Medical Reserve Corps, and Maritime Regiment.
Sewell retired from the U.S. Army.
Keyna Omenukor, a registered nurse, was onsite during the reception to offer blood pressure checks, blood sugar screening, and answer any health-related questions the veterans might have. Keyna is currently enrolled at Walden University for the Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner program. She has been a registered nurse for 27 years and in home health area for 20 years. She works with Crystal Care Home Health Services, Inc. in Mesquite.
