Giving Tree at JER Chilton YMCA at Rockwall

ROCKWALL (December 4, 2013) The JER Chilton YMCA at Rockwall encourages members to “Adopt an Angel” from the YMCA’s annual Giving Tree. This year, due to the nearly $5 million expansion and renovation project underway at the JER Chilton Y, the “tree” is actually Christmas garland hanging at the front desk, adorned with “Angel” ornaments.

“Our Giving Tree is extra special here at the Y because it is not only going to help those in need at the holiday time, but we are filling the tree with our YMCA scholarship children that are members here at our Y,” said Amanda Lockhart of the Y’s Welcome Center.

To qualify, the family must be on financial assistance; have an active membership; and the children have to be 17 or under.

To “Adopt an Angel”:

  • Members can take an ornament from the tree.
  • Each ornament should be signed out with the members name and phone number on the clip board provided.
  • Each member can also take a little reminder letter asking them to return the gifts to the YMCA no later than December 18th.
  • When the member returns with the gift, please label the gift with the correct number from the ornament. If they do not have the ornament, the Y staff can look it up on the clip board.

The JER Chilton YMCA thanks members in advance for their help and generosity.
