ROCKWALL (February 28, 2014) UPDATE: Chandlers Landing Yacht Club will meet at 3:30 p.m. at Allure on Sunday, March 2. All boaters – sailors or motor boaters – are welcome to attend and help as the club re-organizes.
The club will be electing officers. Allure at Chandlers Landing is located at 501 Yacht Club Drive.
ROCKWALL (February 20, 2014) On Sunday, February 16, 2014, Dave Mallard called to order the organizational meeting for Chandlers Landing Yacht Club, a re-launch of the club that began 40 years ago at Chandlers Landing. The meeting was held at Allure in Chandlers Landing.
The 20 some people attending the organizational meeting voted to form the club, organize a corporate structure, set dues at $100 per year (except those joining by May 17 will pay $50 for the first year), have the club join various sailing associations and conduct the election of officers at the next meeting at Allure on March 2, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. Motor boaters and sail boaters are each welcome and encouraged to join.
CLYC will host and conduct various activities including twice weekly sailboat races, hosting of Dallas Race Week, conducting junior sailing events and classes, organizing lighted boat parades for Christmas and perhaps for the 4th of July, and a “Spring Splash” to announce the beginning of boating season. Evan Matteson will be working on facebook and other media interaction. The club will maintain the history and logo from the former yacht club at Chandlers Landing.
