New CASA volunteers sworn in

ROCKWALL, TX (March 27, 2014) On March 17, 2014, six new Lone Star CASA volunteers were sworn in by Judge Brett Hall.  Pictured from left to right are:  Christine Davis, Erin Long, Kathy Collier, Judge Brett Hall, Mary Penn, Nancy Nurmesviita and Stacy McBride.

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteers are community persons who complete 30 hours of training.  Upon completion of training, they advocate for the best interest of children in the foster care system.  Statistics show that when a child has a CASA volunteer, he or she is less likely to linger in foster care, more likely to receive services needed for academic success and less likely to return to the system.

The next new volunteer training for Lone Star CASA begins in May.  For more information, please visit www.lonestarcasa.org or call 972-772-5858.  Our volunteers make a difference one child at a time!
