Rockwall Art League to host Scott Mattlin workshop
Scott Mattlin

ROCKWALL (March 3, 2014) The Rockwall Art League will host a three-day Scott Mattlin Workshop from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 6, 7 and 8 at Harry Myers Community Center. Participants will learn to take their landscapes to a new level with color, texture and light.

Join them for an unforgettable workshop experience with master impressionist Scott Mattlin. Students will be encouraged to use beautiful and unusual colors, a variety of textures and techniques , and with Scott’s detailed and thorough demonstrations, coupled with students working on their own paintings, come away with new ideas and inspiration for painting!

This is a very “hands on” workshop. Scott is a very open and giving instructor, spending time working with each and every student, explaining his techniques and color choices in a simple, and often entertaining manner. A class where you can truly “let your hair down” and spend valuable time with a very down-to-earth, but extremely accomplished master painter.

Bring all of your questions about painting- they are strongly encouraged. Participants will be working on two, or possibly three paintings, depending on the level of “finish”.

The cost of the class is $375 per student for the three days. There is a nonrefundable $150 deposit which will be due by March 15th when registration closes.

Artist’s Bio

Scott Mattlin is an artist with a deep and sensitive appreciation for beauty ; whether found in the natural environment; or in the elegance of a ballerina preparing for a performance.  Painting in both watercolor and oils; his paintings are recognizable in  Scott’s use of strong and harmonious color and varied and distinctive texture in his oil paintings.

Beginning his professional career in the late 1980’s; Scott’s work has delighted thousands of collectors both in the US and abroad over the years; and although he has been a much sought-after instructor for over 20 years; – he still considers himself a student of art; continually striving to improve and learn more.

Scott’s philosophy on   painting remains a simple one: –   ” I begin work on a painting with a plan; – but without predetermined expectations. I just paint until I feel that I am looking at something…beautiful”.

Scott’s work has appeared in numerous feature  articles in magazines such as Southwest Art, American Art Collector, Lattitudes magazine, and Western Art and Architecture.  He participates in numerous invitational and juried shows such as Oil Painters of America, Salon International, and Colorado Governor’s Invitational Show, among others.  He truly loves sharing his years of accumulated knowledge with his students, and their enthusiatic response is certain to keep him teaching for many years to come.
