Rockwall Newcomers learn about Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden

Margaret Duncan, left, from the Dallas Arboretum, poses with Newcomers Vice President, Kathy Weintraub.

ROCKWALL, TX (March 20, 2014) Rockwall County Newcomers and Friends recently welcomed Margaret Duncan, Program Coordinator for the Dallas Arboretum. Margaret presented a program March 13 on the new Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden.

Margaret, a retired fourth grade teacher, is a docent at the DeGolyer House and former Chairman of the Docent Board. She volunteers at the Arboretum Education Department. Margaret showed numerous slides of the new children’s section at the Arboretum.

At the Exploration Center you can be a CSI (Cool Science Investigator) and take a look at the DNA of a strawberry! By visiting the Texas Skywalk you can walk in the treetops. In the Habitats section you can visit a fabricated Live Oak, sit on an egg at the Eagle’s Nest or venture to the “Plant are Alive” and see a huge Flower Pot, or a Celery Slide.

Whether you visit this wonderful exhibit with your grandchildren or yourself, you will enjoy your adventure and thanks to Margaret for opening our eyes with her slides and program.

Newcomers will meet at 10 a.m. April 10 at Occasions at Stone River in Royce City for a Spring Fashion Show presented by the Dress Barn of Rockwall. Reservation deadline is Monday, March 31. You may reserve a luncheon ticket for $20 by contacting Marion at 972-722-9896 or De at 972-722-1090.
