American National Bank of Texas welcomes new board member

ROCKWALL, TX (April 3, 2014) American National Bank of Texas is proud to announce Gary Martin has been appointed as an advisory board member to the bank’s board of directors. 

Martin retired from Capital Southwest Corporation after a 41-year tenure with the Dallas-based venture capital firm. He served as chief financial officer and secretary/treasurer from 1972 to 1978 before being elected vice president. From 1979 to 2007, he served as president and chief executive officer of The Whitmore Manufacturing Company, a Capital Southwest portfolio company.

“I have been a long-term customer and shareholder of ANBTX and I am pleased to expand my role as an Advisory Director” Martin said. “ANBTX plays an important role in the communities they serve and I’m honored to be a part of that.” 

In 2007, Martin was named president and CEO of Capital Southwest before being elected chairman of the board the following year. He served as a director of Capital Southwest since 1988. 

In addition to serving on the board of directors for Capital Southwest, Martin is also a director of Alamo Group, Inc. (Seguin, TX), Hill and Wilkinson Ltd. (Richardson, TX) and Hatfield and Company (Rockwall, TX). 

“Gary’s extensive experience will be a tremendous asset to our board,” ANBTX President and CEO Robert Hulsey said. “We could not have asked for a better candidate to be a part of our team.” 

Martin has also served on the Rockwall City Council and the Rockwall Planning and Zoning Commission. He is also a founding chairman of the Rockwall Economic Development Corporation and the initial chairman of Rockwall ISD’s Financial Foundation. 

Martin holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Oklahoma. He is also a retired Texas certified public accountant.
