TxDOT to hold public meeting for improvements to FM 552 in Rockwall County

Project extends from SH 205 to SH 66

ROCKWALL, TX (April 3, 2014) The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will conduct an ‘open- house style’  Public Meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 10 at Williams Middle School, 625 E. FM 552 in Rockwall.

The purpose of the Public Meeting is to present the proposed project to the public, receive comments and discuss the project with TxDOT representatives.  Maps and geometric designs will be on display; TxDOT staff and consulting engineers will be available in an informal setting to answer questions.

The proposed project would include improvements within a 5.2 mile section of FM 552. Upon completion, FM 552 would accommodate two 11-foot wide inside lanes and one 14-foot-wide outside shared use lane in each direction; a 7 to 18-foot-wide median with 1 to 2-foot curb offsets; a 5  to 10-foot-wide sidewalk with minimum of 9-foot offset from face of curb. Approximately 52 acres of additional right of way (ROW) and easements would be needed to accommodate the proposed roadway and drainage improvements. Two residential property displacements and no commercial property displacements or relocations would be required.

The project cost is approximately $58 million. Construction is expected to begin in 2018 with an estimated completion in 2020.
