ROCKWALL, TX (May 31, 2014) The City of Rockwall honored City Manager Rick Crowley with a resolution presented by Mayor David Sweet on May 19th, a day declared “Rick Crowley Happy 30th Anniversary Day.” It was a surprise ceremony forCrowley during the City Council meeting. Rick’s wife, Lauren, and their daughters, Rachel and Kayla, also shared in the recognition.
“It has been a privilege to serve the city. Rockwall is a great community. I am honored to continue to be a part of it,” Mr. Crowley said.
He was hired as an Administrative Assistant in April 1984. Then, he assumed the role of Director of Parks and Recreation in 1986, a position he held for five years before becoming Director of Public Services. In 1996,Crowleywas named Director of Municipal Services and Assistant City Manager in 1998. Fourteen years later,Crowleywas selected by the City Council as City Manager.
His career with the city has spanned a population growth from 8,000 to today’s more than 40,000 residents, and the city has increased from 12.76 square miles to 29.77 square miles. Mr. Crowley oversees about 250 employees compared to a 1984 city work force of only 64.
The resolution honoring City Manager Rick Crowley and read by Mayor Sweet stated, “Rick’s long-tenured service to the City ofRockwallis a testament to his heart for public service and his commitment to the residents of our great city.”
Prior to coming to Rockwall, Mr. Crowley worked for the cities of Burleson and Colorado City.
