Rockwall Moms Run This Town

ROCKWALL, TX (May 8, 2014) Moms with young kids, moms with grown kids, and moms with kids of the four-legged, furry variety are welcome to join a fast-growing group of local ladies who gather to run, walk and enjoy a healthy lifestyle.

Founded by Jessica Thompson, the Rockwall Chapter of Moms RUN This Town has more than 150 active participants – and a facebook group comprising 300 members. Thompson and Sara McCutcheon serve as Co-Leaders, with Alyssa Beirne as Blogger Mom and Michelle LoPresti as Sponsorship Chair. From stroller-friendly routes to long training runs, there is something for every level of runner – even those who have never run before.

“I love that we run our weekly training runs together, participate in races together and are always there for each other. These ladies aren’t just my running partners, they are my friends,” said Thompson.

McCutcheon agreed. “I never would have met these ladies if it weren’t for running. We talk about everything while running – kids, jobs, husbands, solving the world’s problems. I can’t imagine not having this group of friends.”

Member Kim Bentley, who formally “hated running,” says, “The women are motivators, mentors and so much more. We share laughs, tears, and good and bad runs together. I would more than likely still hate running and not love it as much as I do without these ladies in my life.”

Shelly Pfuhl added, “It’s not the running that keeps us going. It’s the relationships. It’s the meals that show up at your doorstep when you’ve come home from the hospital. It’s the text that says, ‘hey we missed you today; is everything ok?’”
