WYLIE,TX. (July 22, 2014) Nijee Cooper from Wylie,Texas, has signed a letter of intent to play men’s soccer at Bethany College for the 2014-2015 academic year.
Cooper, an outside mid and center mid, comes to Bethany from Wylie East High School, where he was a multi-sport athlete. Cooper was a soccer captain, playing forward, outside mid, center mid, and sweeper. He also participated in cross country, track, volleyball, lacrosse, football as a kicker, and band.
Cooper earned several soccer honors throughout his high school career: 1st Team All-District, 2nd Team All-District, All-District Defensive MVP, District Champion, and Bi-District Champion. He was also an All-District cross country runner as well as an outstanding trumpet soloist.
“We are excited to have Nijee joining our men’s soccer program and college,” said Head Coach Shane Taylor. “His track record speaks for itself and we are delighted to have a student-athlete of his caliber contributing to Bethany’s future.”
Cooper is the son of Kimberly Cooper. He plans to major in engineering.
The Bethany College Swedes compete in 18 intercollegiate sports in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Bethany participates in the NAIA Champions of Character program, which encourages integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership in student-athletes, coaches, and youth in the community.
