Rockwall Rib Rub winners recognized: Photos & Follow-Up

ROCKWALL, TX (October 6, 2014) The 6^th Annual Rockwall Rib Rub and Run event was blessed with clear skies as well as plenty of sunshine and teams firing up their grills to cook up some good old fashioned Texas barbecue this past Saturday.

The afternoon saw many locals pack the event area, located between the Rockwall Running Center and Rockwall City Hall, browsing the many vendors of BBQ Outfitters Alley that were on hand throughout the day offering a wide array of grills, sauces, rubs and all manner of delicious BBQ accessories.

This year’s International Barbecue Cookers Association-sanctioned BBQ competition saw more participants than ever before, to go along with some great music by the Paul Harrington Band, The Rub and Water Sign.

“We were very pleased with the attendance and had a record 57 teams compete this year,” said Main Street Director Bethany Browning. “We appreciate all of our volunteers and sponsors for supporting this event year after year.”

This year’s competition centered around three main categories (½ chicken, baby back ribs and pork spare ribs) plus the Peoples Choice Wing Tasting competition. Cash prizes were awarded to the top five winners this year due to the large number of participants.

The annual 5K/10K run kicked things off bright and early, with the results being posted at the Rockwall Running Center’s website, rockwallrunningcenter.com.
