Students stomp bluebonnets at Amy Parks-Heath Elementary

ROCKWALL/HEATH, TX (October 2, 2014) If the turnout at the inaugural Bluebonnet Stomp at Amy Parks-Heath Elementary School is any indication of things to come, wildflowers will be blooming and a new tradition will have taken hold in the community.

“It was just such a relaxed and spontaneous event and I know when those bluebonnets pop up in the spring (fingers crossed!) the kids will be so proud,” said Kerri New, APHE PTO president.

The BlueBonnet Stomp kicked off with an introduction by Dr. Helm and Mrs. Smith, followed by a performance of the Texas song by the Starlight Singers and the school song sung by all the students.

Mrs. Stonestreet, music teacher and choir director, gave some short instructions (“stomp those seeds hard into the ground!”) and then the STOMPING began!

“The kids took it SO seriously and it was ridiculously cute,” New said. “As the older kids finished their stomping, some spontaneous line dancing erupted on the driveway, thanks to the country music that had been playing as ‘music to STOMP by.'”
