Overnight storm causes vessel to shift, break docks
(ROCKWALL, TX – May 27, 2015) During last night’s storm in Rockwall, Harbor Lights, a Sail With Scott vessel, broke away from the company dock and crashed into the Rockwall city dock. This was before it ultimately shifted over to the shore alongside Interstate 30 East. The boat is currently lodged onto the rocks, and Sail With Scott has hired rescue/salvage teams to retrieve the 57-ft double-decker power boat. The 80-passenger party boat is Sail With Scott’s only year-round A/C-powered vessel.
The crew has been working since 1:30 a.m. to ensure no upcoming individual cruises, weddings or corporate events will need to be canceled.
Blue Ribbon News just spoke to Captain Scott Self, who says he expects Harbor Lights to be out of the water and on the trailer as early as this afternoon or tomorrow to further assess any damage, which will be promptly tended to.
“”The good news is no one got hurt, and the damage is really pretty minor compared to what could have happened,” Self said. “The engine sustained some damage, but I can buy replacement parts for that. Most of the damage is under water, which we can fix quickly, then get back working again. I assure you we’ll sail again. I feel fully challenged right now, but it’s just a minor glitch.”
Should Sail With Scott have to move forward with any future cancellations, the company will contact each customer directly through the personal contact information provided in the online reservation system.

FROM THE CITY OF ROCKWALL: A portion of The Harbor boat docks received significant wind and storm damage and will be closed. The City of Rockwall will provide updates as soon as the damaged areas are repaired and reopened. Thank you for your patience.
