WEATHER-RELATED UPDATE (May 15, 2015) This just in from the City of Rockwall: “Founders Day Festival is still planned to go on as scheduled this Saturday, May 16th! There are however a few changes being made that we would like to communicate to everyone. We will be placing our food vendors and the daytime bands stage in the Harry Myers East parking lot (945 East Washington). The marketplace with all of our retail vendors will be moving to the Harry Myers Park West parking lot(875 East Washington). We will continue to make announcements and updates as things change. Also, please be aware that the disc golf course will have several holes closed due to Founders Day Festival.”
(ROCKWALL, TX – May 13, 2015) Join one of the best outdoor parties in Texas to celebrate the City of Rockwall’s 161st birthday this Saturday, May 16th – the Founders Day Festival at Harry Myers Park.
From 10 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. enjoy great live music along with an exciting new array of activities for kids, great shopping at the Market Place and a variety of great cuisine. And, kick back at 7 p.m. for the main attraction, Sawyer Brown!
A top country music band, Sawyer Brown has received numerous awards including the ACM, CMA and CMT top honors for Vocal Group of the Year.
Founders Day Festival 2015 will offer the most exciting event for kids with ACTION PACKED GAMES! They include: Zip Line, Climbing Wall, Remote Controlled Race CarTrack, Bounce House Maze and Bungee Trampoline.
Sponsored by the City of Rockwall and produced by the Rockwall Parks and Recreation Department – Founders Day Festival 2015 has no entry or parking fees – music and kids’ events are free.
Festival-goers can shop ‘til they drop with arts and crafts, kids’ items, hats purses, ceramic beaded crosses, candles, wind chimes – and so much more.
They can also eat their way through a great variety of food. Yummy pit stops showcase some of the best regional cuisine along with traditional festival favorites – food trucks will be on site!
“We love our city, and Founders Day Festival 2015 is our way of saying thanks to its great residents and inviting others to come out and see what we have to offer,” said Andy Hesser, the city’s Parks and Recreation Manager. “We want to provide the community with great entertainment at no charge – that’s one of the many perks of living in Rockwall, all you have to do is show up!
