Lorne Liechty announces campaign for Texas House

Conservative Republican & Successful Businessman Vows To Protect The Personal Liberties Of All Texans

HEATH, TX – July 9, 2015 – Lorne Liechty, a longtime conservative leader and the current Mayor of Heath, has announced that he will be a candidate for State Representative to represent the citizens of Texas State House District 33, which includes Rockwall County and parts of Collin County.

“Protecting the liberty we enjoy as Texans takes experienced conservative leadership,” said Liechty. “As the State Representative for District 33, I will never waver in my support of the Republican principles that have allowed our state to prosper — that means low taxes, efficient government and personal freedom.”

“For the sake of our taxpayers, our state government must be lean and efficient with a renewed focus on the basic services that have the biggest impact on our everyday lives like better roads, schools of excellence and safer neighborhoods,” added Liechty.

Liechty has lived in Heath since 1986, and has served in many areas of public life.  From 2004 to 2012, Liechty served as a member of the Heath City Council, serving as Mayor Pro Tem during the last two years of that tenure.  In 2012, Liechty was elected to serve as Mayor, where he successfully pushed to improve roads and other city services, grow the economy, attract desirable commercial development and expand high-quality, low-density residential development.

In addition to his service on the Heath City Council, Liechty is a past Chairman of the Heath Park Board, and he serves on the Board of Directors of Rockwall County Helping Hands, a non-profit organization that provides medical care, food, and direct financial assistance to families in need. This successful program has helped thousands of residents improve their health and financial situation instead of relying on intrusive government involvement.

“I have been richly blessed by the opportunities afforded to me, and believe it is my obligation to give back to our community and provide these same opportunities for future generations,” said Liechty.

Liechty has been married to Mary Scott Liechty for 36 years, and they have four children and six grandchildren. Lorne and Mary attend Lakeshore Community Church, where Lorne served as an Elder for twelve years, has served as chairman of a Capital Stewardship Campaign, and taught several Sunday School classes.  Lorne and Mary have also led multiple mission trips to Nicaragua.

Liechty graduated from Oral Roberts University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, and from The University of Notre Dame with a Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, and a Masters of Business Administration degree, With Highest Honors.  He was licensed as an attorney in 1981, and is a Founding Partner with the law firm of Liechty & McGinnis, LLP, where his practice is focused in the area of commercial real estate transactions.
