ROCKWALL, TX. (July 7, 2015) November 9th and 10th the Rockwall Art League will host an oil painting workshop with artist Cecy Turner. The event will be held at the Fate Community Center,104 William E Crawford Ave. Fate TX 75087 from 9 am to 4 pm.
Students are expected to supply their own easel and plastic table cover if possible as well as 9×12, 11×14 or 12×16 canvases or panels. Landscape inspiration photos are also encouraged, but some will be provided. If needed, art supplies can be left in the community center the night of Nov. 9th. Students also should bring their own lunch; the community center is 
equipped with a full kitchen with a refrigerator, range and microwave.
The workshop will focus on the different aspects of painting a landscape and the large shapes that make up landscapes. The other main focus of the workshop is the IDEA for a painting. The class will explore several ways to come up with an idea that is unique and different than just painting the scene “the way the photo is” or the way most people would approach it. The IDEA for a painting is one of the main components in getting juried into big shows! Cecy 
Turner will elaborate on her “idea stack” and how she uses it. Cecy will also give demonstrations both mornings of a big sky painting or a sunset sky. Cecy also asks prospective students to email her at any time with suggestions about landscape subjects to cover.
The workshop cost is $130 for both days. A $65 deposit to Cecy Turner is required and deposits are refundable until October 9th. Mail the deposit to 3050 Carriage Dr., Estes Park, CO 80517. Please email Cecy Turner at cecy@cecyturner.com to let her know you’re mailing your deposit.
