Rest Haven named official location for National Wreaths Across America Program

Community Fundraising Efforts to Culminate in Wreath-Laying Ceremony on National Wreaths Across America Day

Wreaths Across America (WAA), a nonprofit organization founded to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, announced that Rest Haven Memorial Park in Rockwall, Texas will be joining in the effort to fulfill the national WAA mission of remembering, honoring and teaching under the 2015 central theme: “Cemeteries are for the living.” This is the first year that Rest Haven Memorial Park will be participating.

The local Civil Air Patrol Squadron TX 354 Lakeshore Rockwall, is partnering with Rest Haven for the event and will be organizing fundraising events in the coming weeks.  These efforts will culminate in a wreath-laying ceremony to honor veterans on National Wreaths Across America Day on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015. Remembrance wreaths will be placed at the graves of fallen veterans at Rest Haven Memorial Park and at more than 1,000 locations across the country and overseas. These remembrance ceremonies will be held on this day to ensure that the individuals who served to protect the freedoms of our country are not, and never will be, forgotten.

“We are so honored to be a part of the annual wreath-laying this year,” said Dewayne Cain, President and Founder of Rest Haven Funeral Homes and Memorial Park.  “We should always honor the lives and memories of veterans, and providing this special way for their loved ones to do so during the holidays is a privilege for us at Rest Haven.”

“Wreaths Across America has grown on the passion of our volunteers,” said Karen Worcester, WAA executive director. “Many of our organization’s most successful ideas came from those who do the real work of organizing and carrying out our ceremonies in their hometowns. It is overwhelming to realize that more than 1,000 locations are living our mission to Remember, Honor and Teach the service and sacrifice of veterans.”

Those interested in volunteering or donating to the local Wreaths Across America event at Rest Haven Memorial Park are invited to visit Rest Haven’s Community Events page on their website at resthavenfuneral.com.
