Candidate packets available now for City of Rockwall Municipal Election May 7

(ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX – Jan. 4, 2016) The City of Rockwall is slated to call an election to be held on May 7, 2016 for the purpose of electing three City Council Members, one each for Places 2, 4 and 6. Terms for elected Rockwall City Council Members are for two years. All three incumbents, including John Hohenshelt (Place 2), Dennis Lewis (Place 4), and Mike Townsend (Place 6), are eligible to run for an additional term in office should they choose to do so.

An informational candidate packet for residents who may be interested in learning more about running for Rockwall City Council is available both at City Hall (385 S. Goliad, 3rd floor, City Secretary’s Office) and online for download via the City Secretary’s webpage at www.rockwall.com/citysecretary.asp The period for submitting an application for a place on the May 7th ballot runs from Wednesday, January 20th through Friday, February 19th.

The City of Rockwall’s municipal election will again be administered by the Rockwall County Elections Administrator, as has been done in the past. Early voting is scheduled for Monday, April 25th through Tuesday, May 3rd (excluding Sunday) at the Rockwall County Library, 1215 E. Yellow Jacket Lane. Election Day voting will be held Saturday, May 7 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Utley Middle School cafeteria, 1201 T.L. Townsend Drive.

Applications for ballots by mail must be requested from and mailed to the Rockwall County Elections Administrator’s Office and received no later than the close of business on April 26th. The address is 915 Whitmore Dr., Suite D • Rockwall, TX 75087.
