Doug Hamilton proposes new initiative if elected to County Commissioner

(ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX – Feb. 12,2016) Longtime Rockwall resident Doug Hamilton is running for County Commissioner representing Precinct 1.

“We all have seen or read news stories about cyber-crime and how it affects our daily lives.  Companies, both private and public, as well as the US Government, Department of Defense, and individuals, are compromised daily. Valuable information, both personal and financial, as well as intellectual property is stolen.  Many of us have had to make frequent trips to our banks to replace our debit/credit cards after transactions at compromised retailers,” Hamilton states.

Hamilton has served for the last 20 years as a business leader in the information technology arena where he and his teams have fought against cyber intrusions.  He wants to bring this experience to our county government in Rockwall.

“The county handles and maintains many sensitive personal and financial documents, records, and data that must be protected from both internal unauthorized access as well as external threats.  As a county, we need to make sure we are doing everything we can to protect our residents’ sensitive information,” Hamilton said. “If elected, I will apply my business experience with ‘best cyber-security practices’ to ensure that the county is and remains up to date on the best way to provide that protection. I will facilitate the dialogue with my fellow commissioners and other elected officials necessary to discuss how the county currently protects our sensitive information from hackers, and will make recommendations as needed.”

Lifelong conservative and native Texan, Hamilton and his wife of more than 30 years, Janet, raised three children in Rockwall – all graduating from Rockwall High School.  Hamilton is excited for the opportunity to run for County Commissioner of Precinct 1 and continue his public service to the citizens of Rockwall County.
