Rockwall police still searching for suspect in carjacking at local park

(ROCKWALL, TX – May 14, 2016) The robbery occurred on Wednesday night, May 11, when a man approached a handful of parents after a baseball game at Harry Myers Park. The suspect indicated he was armed, although no weapon was seen–and he asked the parents, “if they valued their kids more than their car.” Feeling threatened and wanting to protect the children, one of the men handed his keys to the suspect, who drove away in the vehicle.

The victims reported the incident to Rockwall Police, who found the truck soon after at Homeboy’s convenience store in Fate. Police are still searching for the suspect, described as a white male about 28 – 35 years old, and between 5’10” and 6’1″ tall. He has brown hair and is unshaven.

The Rockwall Police Department has released an image captured on a cell phone shortly before the incident occurred, of a man they consider a person of interest. If you see this man, please call your local police.

Authorities conducted a search of the wooded area behind the park and the nearby school, and there were no signs of anyone in the area. No one was hurt in the incident, and in an abundance of caution, while the search continues, police are working with area schools to ensure the safety of children.
