Seizure keeps dangerous narcotics out of hands of area youth
(ROCKWALL, TX – June 1, 2016) The Rockwall Police Department has made a significant drug bust that makes area youth safer. It’s part of the department’s proactive effort to make a positive difference in the lives of young people. For several months, the Police Department’s Narcotics Unit has been investigating the sale and use of narcotics among teens in Rockwall. Last Monday, May 23, the investigation came to a close in Rowlett, with two arrests and a seizure, which included more than 200 grams of THC oil.
THC oil is extracted from marijuana, and is a more concentrated form of the drug—which makes it even more potent and dangerous than marijuana. Rockwall Police say THC has become a growing problem among young people in the area.
Rockwall PD’s Narcotics Unit worked together with the Rowlett Police Department’s Narcotics Unit, Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations to execute a search warrant in the 6300 block of Lancashire Drive in Rowlett. Additional items seized in the bust were marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm. Two males, one adult and one juvenile, were arrested in the incident.
