Springer students support St. Jude’s

(ROCKWALL, TX – Oct. 5, 2016) Sixth graders in Liz Kelly’s class at Springer Elementary participated in the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Mathathon.  In order to prepare for the Mathathon, they watched stories of children who have been treated at St. Jude, as well as a family affected by cancer, which inspired them to take action.  This sparked a discussion about the importance of doing putting others before self, and that no matter how young a person may be, they can make a difference in the life of someone else.

The 6th graders chose to go home and talk with their family and friends about the cause.  They set a class goal to raise $1,000 for St. Jude.  The day the donations came in, Mrs. Kelly’s heart overflowed with happiness! Springer 6th graders raised $3,500 to send to St. Jude!
