Grand Marshal chosen for Rockwall Christmas Parade

(ROCKWALL, TX – Nov. 22, 2016) Fourth grade Pullen Elementary student Layne Yudizky is the winner of a poster contest to become the Grand Marshal of the 47th Annual Christmas Parade presented by the Rockwall County Kiwanis Club.  This year’s theme is “Celebrating the Spirit of Rockwall”.

Layne is the son of Kevyn and Kyle Yudizky.  He is a straight A student in Mrs. Bridge’s class. He’s an athlete; he loves sports and plays baseball as a catcher and enjoys playing flag football.  His mother acknowledged that all mothers think this about their child but says “Layne is just good at whatever he puts his mind to.”  Layne just began to get into art a couple of years ago and really enjoys Mrs. Efeney’s art class. Layne has an 8-year-old brother.

The poster contest is open to all elementary students in Rockwall ISD and is judged by the members of the Kiwanis Club Parade Committee for best representation of the parade theme.  The picture drawn by the student is then incorporated in the annual Parade Poster seen around town and the winning student becomes the Grand Marshal of the Parade.

The parade will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, December 3rd.  This year’s route will begin at the County Courthouse on Yellowjacket Drive; proceed north on Townsend, east on Boydstun, north on Fannin and then east on Rusk to end at Dobbs Elementary.

The Kiwanis Christmas Parade starts off a great day of activities on the downtown square followed by the annual City tree lighting in the evening.  Come out and enjoy the day long Hometown Christmas Celebration.

Additional information about the parade can be obtained at rockwallkiwanis.org or by calling 972-722-6001.
