(ROCKWALL, TX – Nov. 29, 20160 Just in time for Christmas, Upper Room Books has released Missy Buchanan’s eighth book: Spirit Boosters for the Journey of Aging: 366 Days, a devotional flipbook specific to the challenges of growing older. Buchanan, a longtime resident of Rockwall, has appeared twice on Good Morning America with Robin Roberts to talk about aging faithfully and speaks to churches and senior living communities across the nation.
“Back in May I fractured my heel and was wheelchair-bound for the summer. One day my publisher called and suggested that it would be a great time to work on a new book,” Buchanan said. “The idea of the spiral-bound flipbook of daily devotions came to me as I thought about older friends who had told me that they needed a daily reminder that they still had purpose. Or as one older friend admitted, he needed an ‘attitude adjuster.’”
Buchanan followed the advice of the older people she visits regularly. She got busy writing the brief daily devotions that both challenge and encourage older adults in the last seasons of their lives. The flipbook officially releases on Dec. 1 and is dedicated to two influential women in Buchanan’s life – 104-year-old Inez Wallace who was Missy’s childhood Sunday school teacher, and 94-year-old Vista Edmondson, a late-in-life friend that Missy visits weekly. The flipbook is available on Amazon.com and the online book store at UpperRoom.org for $12.99.
