(ROCKWALL, TX – Jan. 21, 2017) The City of Rockwall is throwing a huge party-with Texas Country legends, Pat Green and Cory Morrow, performing-and everyone’s invited! Marking the 163rd birthday for the City of Rockwall, the Rockwall Founders Day Festival 2017 takes place at Harry Myers Park on May 20, and this year could be the biggest so far for the annual event.
Three-time Grammy-nominated Texas native, Pat Green, plays at 8 p.m. on the Southwest Kia-Rockwall stage. He’s been called the Texas Country “face of a generation,” Pat Green has sold more than two million albums and has sold out the Houston Astrodome. After a meteoric rise on the country charts, in recent years, Green has focused on getting back to his Texas roots, and the music his loyal followers know and love.
Another pioneer on the Texas Country scene, Cory Morrow takes the Southwest Kia-Rockwall stage at 6 p.m. on May 20. He’s traveled the State of Texas and excited fans with his own signature style, mixing juke-joint country with a little bit of rock and gospel to boot.
Presented by the Rockwall Parks and Recreation Department, this is the 14th year for the free event, which honors the historical founding of the City of Rockwall. With more than 140 live music concerts free to the public annually, Rockwall is the Live Music Capital of North Texas, and the Founders Day Festival is one of the City’s premier events every year.
The outdoor festival runs from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., with plenty of fun-filled activities planned for the whole family. Before the featured acts take the main stage that evening, there will be several more bands performing throughout the day. There will also be many unique food and shopping vendors.
