(ROCKWALL, TX – June 12, 2017) In the early years of the City of Rockwall, local historians say the Baileys owned a hotel, drug store, grocery store and part of a cotton gin. Now the family’s home, currently located at 301 North Goliad Street, will be moved to the site of the Rockwall County Historical Foundation Museum at 815 East Washington Street in Harry Myers Park. The move will take place tomorrow, Tuesday June 13, from 11:30 a.m. to about 3 p.m., and during that time, North Goliad Street (SH 205 through Rockwall) will be closed to all traffic.
The route for the house move is north on N. Goliad from the Square, south on John King Blvd., right on Airport Rd., right onto Washington St. to the park. Alternate routes for traffic during the move will be North Lakeshore, Hwy 66, Northbound John King and FM 552. Traffic delays are anticipated during the move, and police officers will be positioned along the route to help with traffic flow.
