LED Solar lights installed along Robert Smith Family Park trail

(FATE, TX — October 9, 2017) Recently, the City of Fate installed 34 JEC Energy Savings All-in-One LED Solar Lights to create a safe and inviting atmosphere at Robert Smith Family Park. These lights created a minimum financial impact and a maximum improvement to the walking trail at night.

“In a comparison, JEC’s All-in-One LED Solar Light was chosen over competing lights, both for its cost and for its installation simplicity,” said Steve Gilbert, building official for the City of Fate. “The efficient installation entailed burying the light pole and mounting the fixture.”

The All-in-One LED Solar Lights do not require utility power to operate, therefore eliminating the need for a concrete pole base, underground conduit and underground power wires, thus cutting the installation costs by more than 50%. After the sun sets, an integrated photocell turns the light on. When no one is near the lights, they dim to 50% brightness to conserve the battery. The motion sensor activates and returns the lights to full brightness when approached. The lights utilize six hours of sun to charge a battery pack for three nights of lighting.

“These lights are the just another step in our on-going efforts of implementing the comprehensive plan to improve our trails system,” said Will Rugeley, Director of Planning and Development.

Solar LED lighting technology is gaining popularity, due not only to its long life span, but also to its environmentally friendly attributes which include zero energy usage as well as zero mercury usage per hour of operation.
