Rockwall Police Arrest Shoplifter After Brief Standoff

(ROCKWALL, TX – Dec. 19, 2018) On Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at approximately 2:20pm, the Rockwall Police Department responded to a report of a possible shoplifter located at Kohl’s Department Store in the 800 block of E IH 30. When officers arrived, the suspect entered his vehicle parked in front of the location and refused commands to exit the vehicle. The suspect threatened to harm himself with a knife and a brief standoff ensued. Kohl’s and a nearby elementary school were locked down as a precaution. After approximately 30 minutes, the suspect surrendered peacefully and the lockdowns were lifted. The suspect was transported to an area mental health facility to be evaluated and the investigation into the theft is ongoing.
