State Rep. Justin Holland Named to Powerful State Affairs Committee

(AUSTIN, TX – Jan. 23, 2019) Today, State Representative Justin Holland (R-Rockwall) who began his second term as state representative when the 86th Legislature opened January 8th, will serve on the Committee on State Affairs and the Committee on Culture, Recreation and Tourism.

Representative Holland said, “I’m honored and grateful to be appointed by Speaker Bonnen to two vital committees in the Texas House.”

The Committee on State Affairs oversees state policy matters, the management of state departments and agencies, the Sunset Advisory Commission, electric utility and telecommunications regulation, cybersecurity, and regulation of public lands. Bills regarding pro-life and sanctuary cities are among some of the most important issues that are referred to this committee.

“I’m incredibly humbled by the opportunity to represent and uphold our values on the State Affairs Committee. Historically, this committee has been presented with some of the most important issues facing our state.” Earlier today, the Texas Tribune reported that the State Affairs Committee “will have even more jurisdiction over some of the House’s most high-profile legislation this session.”

Representative Holland was also appointed to the Committee on Culture, Recreation and Tourism which oversees the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, hunting and fishing in the state, tourism promotion, preservation of Texas’ shrines monuments and memorials, promotion of Texas’ heritage and promotes the Texas music industry.
