Fate City Mayor Announces Run for Re-Election

(FATE, TX – Feb. 18, 2019) Fate City Mayor Lorne Megyesi has announced his intention to seek re-election.

Megyesi currently sits on the Rockwall County Emergency Management Board and Rockwall County Road Consortium representing the City of Fate. These positions assist in road management and planning in Rockwall County. He has also made presentations at Rockwall Chambers of Commerce and various Homeowner Association meetings.

Megyesi has been Mayor for five years but said that he tries to self-evaluate and grow with every decision he makes.

“If you don’t learn from what you do then you will not grow,” he said. “ If you think you know it all, you’re in for a hard fall.”

Megyesi said that in the last few years he has been willing to sit down and talk with any members of the community who voice their concerns, particularly on social media, about council decisions. He said that he wants to create a space of understanding for both the constituents and himself. Megyesi said he has found that listening and sharing the elaborate behind-the-scenes of local government to be beneficial in creating an understanding community.

“Those individuals can become your best allies when they have an understanding,” Megyesi said. “I will meet with anyone that wants to talk.”

Megyesi has said that the city’s growth is his focus over the next three years.

“Growth is coming we need to incentivize that growth when it makes sense and hold tight when the asks come in,” he said. “I am not willing to jeopardize our future so a developer can make another buck off the citizens of Fate… We need to follow our plan and hold the builders and developers to those standards.”

Megyesi said that he urges the public to look into the cities records to see how each of the candidates has participated within the city.

“That goes for all candidates who are running this year,” he said. “Ask them do you go to the council meeting or what have you done while sitting on the council.  These are some very good questions to ask and you as a citizen have every right to know how we will represent you and the City of Fate.”
