(ROCKWALL, TX – Sept. 18, 2019) “This is our third year serving Rockwall veterans. We provided free dental care to 77 deserving veterans last year; we are aiming to beat that in 2019,” said Dr. Stan Lowrance in kicking off the D-Day for V-Day.
D-Day (Dental Day) for V-Day (Veterans Day) provides an exam, a cleaning, and a first line dental procedure (filling or extraction) all free for Rockwall County veterans. This year’s event will be held on Friday, November 8 at Lowrance Dental, 1350 Summer Lee Dr, in Rockwall.
Rockwall’s Terry Fisher American Legion Post 117 is collaborating with Lowrance Dental. Mark Kipphut, Post Commander, announced that the Legion will start taking appointments at 9 a.m. October 21. “Appointments can be made by telephone or by text message,” said Kipphut. “Simply text your full name and “I want an appointment” said Kipphut, “and our duty officer will text back your appointment time.” The appointment number is 972-762-7685 and the Legion desk will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (M-F) starting October 21.
“The American Dental Society recommends an annual exam and cleaning yearly and our D-Day event will satisfy that need at no cost,” said Lowrance. The service is available only to veterans. The Legion will check veteran credentials on arriving at the clinic. A DD Form 214, Texas Drivers License with a Veteran stamp, a retired Armed Forces ID or an American Legion Membership card are suitable credentials.
